Madhuvan

Madhuvan is a 150-acre remote mountain jungle monastery and yoga retreat. It is located on the West coast of Costa Rica in the province of Guanacaste, twelve miles from the Pacific ocean. The Sanskrit name “Madhuvan” means “sweet forest.” Overflowing with fruit, flora, and fauna, Madhuvan is a tropical paradise with breathtaking views in all directions for as far as the eye can see.

Following Swami’s vision for Sri Caitanya Sanga, Madhuvan facilitates resident monastics, who seek to inspire others by their example of both sustainable living and commitment to inner life. Madhuvan’s monastics grow all of their grains, vegetables, fruits, and nuts and also produce all of their own dairy products by caring for Madhuvan’s herd of cows. Horseback riding is their principal means of conveyance throughout the jungle.

Madhuvan is also blessed with abundant fresh spring water brought by gravity feed to all of its residences. Its rivers provide enough micro-hydro electricity to power the entire project, and the waterfalls both within its boundaries and those within walking distance of Madhuvan provide year-round swimming facilities, as do the pristine beaches of nearby Carillo and Samara.
